- Pierre Pénet, CNRS Research Fellow, Sociologist – Université Paris-Saclay

Interdisciplinarity is often highlighted in calls for projects. The aim of this workshop is to discuss, on the basis of participants’ own experiences, the difficulties (e.g. publication strategy, career), limitations, and, of course, the benefits of this type of approach. Following an introductory presentation by Sylvie Pommier and a keynote lecture by Kim Oosterlinck, the debate will be moderated by Jean Lacroix and Pierre Pénet. Sylvie Pommier is a University Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department at ENS Paris-Saclay, President of the national network of doctoral colleges, Director of the Doctoral College at Université Paris-Saclay, and Deputy Vice-President in charge of doctoral studies at the Université Paris-Saclay. In recent years, Sylvie Pommier has been involved in implementing policies to encourage interdisciplinarity and transversality in research and teaching at Université Paris-Saclay. Kim Oosterlinck is a Professor of Finance at ULB, has a PhD in economics and management, and is also an art historian. He has published in scientific journals in management, economics, law, history, and art history, with co-authors from each of these disciplines. In addition to discussing specific cases, the debate is also intended as a forum for exchanging views on the institutional policies put in place to promote the interdisciplinary approach.
