Abstract: By 2050, global transport activity is expected to more than double, leading to a 16 % increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to 2015, despite the implementation of current decarbonization commitments in the sector. In response to this challenge, various public and private initiatives have been launched to foster collaboration among supply chain stakeholders and promote a decarbonization policy with a specific focus on Scope 3 emissions. Adopting a multi-stakeholder approach, this research explores, through semi-structured interviews, the perceived pressures faced by shippers and logistics service providers (LSPs) regarding their participation in a voluntary environmental program (VEP) focused on Scope 3. Neo-institutional theory serves as the theoretical framework to understand how external pressures drive organizations to integrate environmental practices into their decarbonization strategies.
